"I had your job once. I was good at it." - Rick Deckard to K about being a blade runner.

Why watch this? This visual delight is a fitting sequel to the original.

Plot Summary: In a dystopian future, a young Los Angeles Police Department Officer named K unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what is left of society into chaos. This monumental discovery leads him on a perilous quest to track down Rick Deckard, a former blade runner who has been missing for thirty years. As K searches for answers, he must navigate a treacherous landscape of corporate greed and existential questions regarding humanity and artificial intelligence.

Dad's Preview: When I heard "they" were making a sequel to Blade Runner (1982), I thought, "That's a bad idea." It's been decades. The original is a sci-fi noir masterpiece. Yet, here I sit, wrong again, and I like being this kind of wrong. This film had accomplished several important objectives. It is visually stunning, blending post-apocalyptic, ruinous landscapes with brilliantly-colored images from a highly advanced techno-future. It's story is complicated, wrapping past events in a shell that only makes the mystery more enticing to those uncovering the secret. Finally, we are blessed to have interesting characters that elicit our sympathy, most notably when our protagonists battle against those working so hard to hid the truth. In summation, I did enjoy this movie, and it's nice that the new generation now has their own Blade Runner.
