Why watch this? It's
the greatest slacker film ever made.
Plot Summary: Two
thugs mistakenly attack a Los Angeles slacker known as "The
Dude" because he shares the same name as a millionaire, Jeffrey
Lebowski. When they damage his rug, The Dude seeks recompense
from the wealthy Lebowski, which embroils him in a complex
scheme involving a supposed kidnapping and ransom. Navigating
bizarre characters and unexpected twists, The Dude tries to
unravel the truth while simply wanting his life to go back to
White-Russian-normal.
Dad's Preview:
The Dude. He's just a regular, lazy guy trying to get by and do
his own dude-ly thing. This comedy from the Coen brothers mixes
a lot into its own unique stew. It's a crime film, but not
really. It's got a lot of drug-induced hallucinations. True to
Coen form, the background is populated with a host of quirky
characters. It is so off-the-wall that you almost have to like
it. Bridges' cool-ass performances helps. I really enjoyed it,
but some won't. By the way, you'll enjoy it even more with a
steady flow of cream, vodka and Kahlúa... trust me.
