"I am giving you my
whole life ok? I got nothing larger to give, I'm not giving it
to anybody else. If you're looking for permission to disqualify
me, I'm not gonna give it to you. Ok? I love you. And I'm not in
conflict about it. Okay?" -

Why watch this?
After the fairytale comes real life, with all its love and
anguish.
Plot Summary: Set
during a sun-drenched summer vacation in Greece, the film
follows longtime partners Jesse and Céline as they reflect on
their decades-spanning relationship while navigating family
dynamics. As the getaway comes to a close, the couple is gifted
a night alone, which quickly transforms into a raw and emotional
exploration of their personal and professional futures.
Ultimately, this quiet evening of reflection escalates into a
fierce, hours-long confrontation that tests the limits of their
love and commitment to one another.

Dad's Preview:
Three minutes into this very real movie, my wife
exclaimed, "They have blonde twins!" Aww, I
thought, this is gonna be a cutsie, little Rom-dram.
However, it is not. It very much is a romantic
drama, and it takes the time to intimately reveal a
real, raw relationship. There is loving laughter,
sharp personal jabs, past resentments and old grievances
unresolved. Most of those topics are covered in the
film's last half, a thirty-minute battle in their hotel
room. Tempers flare. The words, "I don't love you
anymore" are uttered. A door jarringly slams. This third
sequel was penned by director Linklater, and the two
leads, Delpy and Hawke. You can't help but feel that
this tale was crafted from actual memories and
experiences; the highs and lows of relationships. Like
the first two, this film is a worthy treasure chest of
meaning, that is, if you don't want the sugar-coated
version. |
