"Oh, Jimmy's forming a band and we should give him a call... and we did." - John Paul Jones

Why watch this? An in-depth story from the original bandmate's perspectives.

Plot Summary: Becoming Led Zeppelin traces the individual journeys of Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, John Bonham, and Robert Plant through the 1960s British music scene, featuring never-before-seen footage of their early collaborations. The documentary chronicles the band’s formation in the summer of 1968 and their meteoric rise to fame, fueled by intense live performances and pioneering studio work. Told through interviews with the surviving members and archival audio of the late John Bonham, the film culminates in 1970 when the group becomes the world's top rock band.

Dad's Preview: This documentary is semi-biographical, with lots of input from the three living bandmates: Page, Plant and Bonham. It covers the band's formation and early days up to and including their incredible rise to the being the No. 1 band in the world. Like the Beatles, it is a rare moment in history that these four lads found each other, then created the legacy we all know as Led Zeppelin. I enjoyed what I learned about Jimmy Page. He was really more of a catalyst in the band than I realized, even more than frontman Robert Plant. Jimmy's wild experimentation with electric sounds and guitar innovations led to some of hard rock's most unique inventions. So, get the led out and explore this documentary.
