"Allow me to break the
ice: My name is Freeze. Learn it well, for it's the chilling
sound of your doom." -
Mr. Freeze
Why watch this?
Arnold gets top billing, and he really is the film's most
memorable character.
Plot Summary: Batman
and Robin face the formidable challenge of stopping both the icy
Mr. Freeze and the seductive Poison Ivy from endangering Gotham
City. Amidst this threat, their partnership is tested by a
personal element, as Alfred, their loyal butler, falls ill. A
new hero, Batgirl, emerges to assist in their fight against
crime.
Dad's Preview:
This film reminds me of a soup where the chef threw everything
available into the pot. It might work, but in this case, it's
OK-not great. Everything is notched up. George Clooney is
now Batman. Batgirl joins the team. There are two new villains
(well, three if you count Bane). Its more colorful than
Batman Forever
(1995). More. More. More. The result feels over-stuffed. I
will say that Schwarzenegger surprised me. He has all the great
lines and gives Mr. Freeze two dimensions - he's nasty, but we
do feel pity for him. The rest of the performances are like
looking at cardboard cutouts of the characters. Clooney and
Thurman have to be kicking themselves over this one.
