Why watch this?
This new Batman reboot is so gritty, you'll need to wash the
sand out of your teeth.
Plot Summary:
Bruce Wayne has been Batman for two years. When both the mayor
and police commissioner are murdered by a masked serial killer
calling himself "Riddler", Wayne and Lieutenant Jim Gordon work
together to solve the case. When another death occurs, this time
the district attorney, clues lead Batman to The Penguin's night
club, where he bumps elbows with Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman).
Before this mystery is solved many truths will be called into
question including the reputation of Batman's parents, Thomas
and Martha Wayne.

Dad's Preview:
In hindsight, it was a good idea to not pursue
Ben Affleck's version of Batman. This effort by Matt Reeves
successfully reinvents the Caped Crusader. This film does feel like the
successful noir Batman comics limited-series by Tim Sale called
Batman: The Long Halloween. It's all dark and ominous, focusing
on a brutal vigilante, a crime family's inter-fighting and a corrupt Gotham badly in need of salvation. |
