"I remember details. Events and people. But what it was actually like to live with shops and fridges and telephones and personal computers? I have no real memory of that at all. That said, I do remember there was a sense of certainty. The world had an order. A way about it." – Dr. Kelson

Why watch this? This 28 Days Late sequel is as good as the original.

Plot Summary: Following the events of 28 Years Later (2025), a young survivor, Spike, is forced into a brutal cult led by a fanatical leader who views the post-apocalyptic landscape as a Satanic domain. Meanwhile, a dedicated researcher in a nearby sanctuary makes unexpected, potentially world-altering breakthroughs regarding the nature of the infected. As these two storylines converge, the remaining humans must face threats that are far more disturbing than the infected hordes themselves.

Dad's Preview: This film is elevated thanks to several things. I can simply watch Ralph Fiennes act all day. He's perhaps the greatest actor of his generation, and he takes career chances, as evidenced by this role. There are also two simultaneous plots at play: The first centers on Spike's kidnapping by the Jimmy gang, led by Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal. These thugs terrorize any human survivors, while adeptly slaughtering the undead. These brutes are definitely channeling A Clockwork Orange. The other plot sees Dr. Kelson's contact with the alpha zombie he calls Samson. Using morphine darts, he's able to reconnect with the man's humanity. I wasn't expecting to be so touched by this, but I was... and that's good filmmaking.
