Notes: |
-
Georgia met her husband,
T. J. ROGERS (1900 Census
indicates he may have gone by "Jefferson"), at the Texas
School for the Deaf. He was a Shoe Cobbler in Granite,
GreerCtyOK. Both
TJ and Georgia were non-speaking and deaf, one by birth, the other
after being struck by lightening while in the back of a wagon.
TJ's obituary offers another explanation for his condition. He was
stricken with an attack of spinal meningitis at the age of five,
which caused the loss of both speech and hearing, and also caused
paralysis which impacted him for the rest of his life.
-
Gertrude, Willie and Homer, all children, are buried under the same grave
marker. -
Harney Rogers was a PVT in the US ARMY, and a veteran of World
War I. He was also a farmer. -
Young D. Heflin served in World War II as a RM1 for the US Navy.
