J. B. Durham Dead

James Burns Durham, 83 years of age, a Tyler county pioneer, died at 10 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. A. Goode, of the Dies Community, after a prolonged illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Mount Pisgah cemetery. The Rev. Allen Dubose of Jasper, Primitive Baptist pastor will officiate.

Mr. Durham was born in Rusk county and a year later came with his parents to the Tyler County farm where he lived until five years ago when he moved to his daughter's home. His wife, a descendant of the early Wheat family, died about 20 years ago. She was the great granddaughter of the man who gave the Woodville townsite.

Survivors are three sons, Hill C. Durham, former Tyler county judge and now assistant postmaster at Woodville, Britton Durham of Woodville and Levi Durham of Hillister; four daughters, Mrs. Lydia Goode and Mrs. Carrie Durham of Colmesneil, Mrs. Rosa Foxworth of Doucette and Mrs. Vinie Sims of Woodville; a brother, W. E. Durham of Warren; 40 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
