Notes:

  • Grisham shows up on the 1850 Census for Strawberry Twp, LawrCtyAR, age 60, with William MARSHALL and family.

  • Grisham Durham and family moved to DeKalb and then to Carroll County, GA. In 1842, he went to Lawrence County, AR, with most of his children. Mary DURHAM (1819-1854), his daughter, married William Washington MERRELL and stayed in Carroll County, GA. He has a son named Kindred DURHAM (from John's will) 2

  • Thomas Mullen served in the Confederacy, Company G, 14th Arkansas Infantry, CSA. He died in 1862.  Was it from the War?

 

Notes:

  • John and Mary Durham died on the same day of the same year. From the Greenville Mountaineer, April 15, 1837, which gives this account:
    "Departed this life on Tuesday, the 4th instant, in Spartanburg District, Mr. John Durham, aged 86, and Mary, his wife, aged 83. They had been upwards of fifty years members of the Baptist Church at Green Pond, and their truly Christian deportment had marked their course. In death as in life, they seemed one, both being interred in the same grave."

  • Mary Carlton was the daughter of John CARLTON (b. 1730 in VA; d. 1810 in Spartanburg, SC) and Agatha LINDSEY. Agatha's father was William LINDSEY, and her two of her sisters were Winifred (married to George Durham, above) and Susannah (married to Matthew Durham).
