Joe and Claudia Durham lived in Charlotte, NC. Joe worked for the
Food and Drug Administration for most of his life. He was District
Director at both the Minneapolis and Dallas Districts. He even traveled
to Mexico in order to get that country to regulate the produce they
imported to the US. The proposal also regulated the amount of DDT the
Mexican farmers could use on their crops. Mexico agreed to the proposal
in 1972.

1
From: October 10, 1963 Winn
Parish Enterprise News-American
Joab L. Durham Of Atlanta Dies At The Age Of 96
Joab L. Durham, one of the oldest residents of Winn parish, died at
his home at Atlanta Tuesday, October 8, 1963, after a lengthy
illness. A retired farmer, he had observed his 96th birthday on
April 6, 1963, and up until this time had enjoyed the best of
health. Mr. Durham was born in Ward One, Winn Parish, and lived most
of his lifetime near Atlanta. He had served as a member of the
parish police jury and was a member of that body when the old
courthouse that was demolished recently was built. His name is on
the plaque that has been preserved from that building. He had also
served as a member of the local school board in the early days when
the schools were directed by local boards. He was a member of the
Atlanta Baptist Church and of the Montgomery Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 10, in the
Sardis Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Teal, the Rev. Bernes Selph,
and the Rev. Wayne Durham officiating. Burial was in the Sardis
Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. The Montgomery
Masonic Lodge conducted graveside rites.
Acting as pallbearers were grandsons: Aubrey, Oliver, and Phillip
Ballard, F. M. and Lindsey Durham, Nathan Durham, Charlie Kolb, and
Glynn Durham.
Survivors include six sons, Nathan Durham and Flem Durham of
Natchitoches, Charlie Durham of Atlanta, Clarence Durham, Winnfield,
