Why watch this?
This is still a great crime drama, but it has really funny
moments, too.
Plot Summary:
Two detectives, Chris Lecce and Bill Reimers, are assigned to
surveil the ex-girlfriend of a dangerous escaped convict. While
on duty, Lecce, posing as a telephone repairman, begins to fall
in love with the woman they are watching, Maria McGuire. This
complicated situation is intensified when the escaped convict
unexpectedly arrives, forcing the detectives to confront both
their duty and Lecce's burgeoning relationship.
Dad's Preview:
I've grown to admire Richard Dreyfuss through the years. He was
so good in
Jaws (1975). Here he plays a
cop assigned to watch the house of an escaped convict's old girlfriend.
As he and his partner watch her from the abandoned house
next door, he starts to fall for her. He even bumps into her at
a local grocery store, which definitely crosses the line. Then
her bank-robbing, hot-tempered, ex-boyfriend arrives,
things get really tense, and dangerous.
