Why watch this? Led
Zeppelin were my generation's rock Gods, and they swaggered alone at the top.
Plot Summary:
The film primarily documents Led Zeppelin's legendary 1973
concerts at Madison Square Garden. These live performances are
interspersed with fantasy sequences and glimpses into the band
members' individual personalities and experiences. The film
offers a unique blend of powerful musical performances,
behind-the-scenes moments, and imaginative explorations of the
band's creative world.
Dad's Preview:
In addition to its concert
experience, the film has fantasy sequences pertaining to each
band member (critics panned these as amateurish). The film's
strength is clearly their play on stage. The soundtrack was my
first Zeppelin album. Being live, many of the songs were more
refined than their original versions. This was the band at their
absolute apex, as four f'ing great musicians, confident and sexy. As Pagey wields his Gibson and Plant struts
like a lion, they are a wonder to behold. The 2007 re-issued
version is an improved delight, too.
