Why watch this? This
is a fun, futuristic action film featuring Tom Selleck.
Plot Summary:
Set in a near-future society where everyday tasks are handled by
advanced machines, a specialized police unit is tasked with
deactivating malfunctioning units. When an officer investigates
a series of unusually violent machine malfunctions, he discovers
a rogue scientist is deliberately reprogramming the devices to
commit murder. As the situation escalates, the cop and his new
partner are forced to stop the madman.

Dad's Preview:
It's such a shame that 80's action films get often
overlooked.
This future-noir crime flick is full of chases, futuristic technology,
inner-office romance and even Gene Simmons, the
fire-breathing, hard-rockin' bassist for
KISS. I loved the myriad of cool tech-devices utilized, especially the murderous,
acid-injecting spider-robots. Tom Selleck gives a fine performance as
stern police Sgt. Ramsay.
I also was glad to see the spunky Cynthia Rhodes (Staying
Alive, 1983) get a lead role. Simmons, as the
film's heavy, personifies evil, much like his on-stage
demon in his rock band. This techno-thriller helped pave
the way for the bigger-budgeted film,
RoboCop (1987). |
