Why watch this?
This is one of the scariest film adaptations of a King novel.
Plot Summary:
After moving his family to a rural Maine home near a busy
highway, Dr. Louis Creed discovers a mysterious burial ground in
the woods that possesses the power to resurrect the dead. When a
sudden tragedy strikes the household, a grieving Louis ignores a
spirit's dire warnings and uses the site's macabre power in a
desperate attempt to undo the loss. His decision unleashes a
terrifying malevolence, as those brought back from the "pet
sematary" return fundamentally changed and dangerously hostile.

Dad's Preview:
I've always loved Stephen King as a storyteller, I'm sure his
willingness to delve into horror helps my fascination. This film
adaptation of his eerie classic book is one of the best. This
macabre movie reels you in with its portrayal of a young family,
one much like we all grew up with. You know, loving parents,
cute children, a family pet... Then the unthinkable occurs: a
devastating accident that sets the plot in motion. It was a wise
choice to put veteran actor Fred Gwynne (aka Herman of TV's
The Munsters) in a key role - he really holds it all
together... until he doesn't. It is creepy, scary, gory and,
man, does it stay with you. The concept of burying a pet
still creeps me the hell out. |
