Why watch this? I
sure do love a creative plot when it comes to new horror films.
Plot Summary:
A young woman named Jay finds herself relentlessly stalked by a
supernatural, shape-shifting entity following a strange
encounter. To survive the terrifying paranormal pursuit, she
discovers that the haunting is a transferable curse that
requires a specific intimate connection to pass it along to
another. With the help of her closest friends, Jay navigates a
desperate and unsettling race to outrun the relentless
malevolence before it catches up to her.

Dad's Preview:
This very creepy film has a unique premise that deserves
recognition. A thing... an entity that, once you are
tagged, will never stop trying to kill you. How do
you acquire this curse? It's sexually-transmitted. In a
plot that might have been written by hyper-judgmental
Christians, your slut-iness is your downfall. This
screams symbolism, like an malevolent version of the
HIV/AIDS virus. This film is well-made and stylistic. I
jumped a lot. I am impressed with the performance by
Maika Monroe. She is compelling to watch, as she deals
with her impossible situation. It Follows will
make you think, both about your own decisions, and the
possibility that something judgmental exists outside the
known world. That is a terrifying thought. |
