"Since we have been
together I have felt more uncomfortable, out of place,
embarrassed, and just physically sick then I have in my entire
life." -
Reuben Feffer
Why watch this? It's
a great romance about a risk-averse young man who encounters a
sexy free-spirit.
Plot Summary:
Reuben, an insurance risk analyst who lives a very careful and
risk-averse life, is left reeling when his new bride leaves him
for a scuba instructor on their honeymoon. Returning home alone,
he unexpectedly encounters Polly, a free-spirited childhood
friend who embodies everything he is not: spontaneous and
adventurous. As their relationship develops, Polly introduces
Reuben to a world of spontaneity and challenges his carefully
constructed approach to life.
Dad's Preview:
It was wise to cast the spunky Jennifer Aniston up against
the reserved Ben Stiller. She wonderfully portrays a an
adventurous gal. Ben has made a career of portraying neurotic,
shy, guys who lack confidence. The film's
strength, besides her adorable blind ferret, is their interplay. She
tries to get him to loosen up, but he resists with every fiber
in his being. All this stress causes his irritable bowel syndrome
(IBS)
to flair up. Yikes! Can this unlikely pairing work things out
and fall in love? Only the ferret knows.
